Consignment
Put your road bike or gravel bike on consignment
Consignment means your bike stays yours and we sell it on your behalf. Berg en Baan in Son en Breugel, near Eindhoven, does that for premium road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes, for a 10% commission with a minimum of €350, plus the costs in our terms and conditions. We take the photos, list it for sale, talk to the buyers and handle the sale. After the sale and receipt of the full payment we pay out the remainder within 14 days.

Frequently asked questions about consignment
What is consignment?
Consignment is selling on someone else’s behalf. The bike stays yours and we sell it for you, for a commission. At Berg en Baan that is 10% of the selling price, with a minimum of €350.
What does consignment cost at Berg en Baan?
The commission is 10% of the selling price, with a minimum of €350. Below a selling price of €3,500 you therefore pay €350. The costs in our terms and conditions also apply, such as for collecting or delivering and storing the bike.
When do I get my money?
After the sale and receipt of the buyer’s full payment we pay out the remainder within 14 days: the selling price minus the commission and the costs in our terms.
Who decides the asking price?
We agree the asking price together with you, based on the market. It can only be changed by mutual agreement.
How long does it take to sell my bike?
We cannot promise that in advance. It depends on the model, the size, the condition and the price. A sharp asking price, agreed together, helps the most.
Which bikes do you take on consignment?
Premium road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes, mainly from brands such as Specialized, Pinarello, Colnago, Cervélo, Factor and Time. A consignment order is accepted subject to approval. If your bike is not on the list, register it anyway: we will assess it personally.
Can I take my bike back?
Yes, you can cancel the order and take the bike back. The notice period and the costs are in the agreement you receive beforehand.
What are the disadvantages of consignment?
You pay a commission of 10%, with a minimum of €350, plus the costs in our terms and conditions. Below a selling price of €3,500 that minimum weighs heavily. You only receive your money once the bike has been sold and the buyer has paid in full, and we cannot promise how long that takes.
What is the difference between consignment and trade-in?
With consignment we sell your bike to a buyer and you receive the remainder of the selling price. With a trade-in we set your bike off, at a trade-in value, against another bike from our showroom.
Is consignment better than selling it myself?
That depends on what matters to you. Selling it yourself costs no commission but takes time, messages, viewings and risk. With consignment we take care of that, for a commission.
Do I have to have my bike valued first?
No. With the calculator you immediately see an indication for selling to us, consignment and trade-in. It is not an offer: that follows after we review your details and photos.
Which countries do you sell for?
We sell for owners in the Netherlands and Belgium and deliver to buyers in both countries.
